Ring 6 practitioners read contracts as configuration files. A master service agreement is a set of parameters that configure the business relationship. The practitioner’s job is to ensure those parameters are set such that the relationship can only move in directions consistent with governance.

The three architectural clauses

• ▸Auto-renewal lock - renewals require positive re-signature; silence terminates.
• ▸Commitment ceiling - aggregate commitment may not exceed a stated cap without a new signature cycle.
• ▸Scope expansion cap - scope changes above a threshold require a new SOW, not an amendment.

In absence of these clauses, a vendor relationship will drift. Consumption grows, pricing tiers roll up, scope creeps. These drifts are not the vendor behaving badly; they are the environment behaving exactly as designed.
