Dependency & toolchain lock

A modern platform is composed of hundreds of dependencies. Each dependency is, in Ring 6 terms, a vendor with an informal contract. Unpinned dependencies change on their own schedule; their changes become your changes without your consent.

• ▸Lockfiles committed for every language (pnpm-lock.yaml, Pipfile.lock, Cargo.lock, go.sum).
• ▸Base container images referenced by sha256 digest, not tag.
• ▸Terraform providers pinned to minor version.
• ▸External APIs consumed through a versioned client with explicit version negotiation.
• ▸Internal libraries published with semantic versioning and breaking-change review.

The practitioner treats every unpinned dependency as an open contract with no expiry. Ring 6 discipline requires closing those contracts.
