An organisational unit to which costs are charged for accounting and management reporting purposes. Cost center is the dominant attribution dimension in finance systems and is the federation default for the highest-level cost roll-up. The federation requires every active resource and SaaS contract to be tagged with a cost center identifier sourced from the canonical finance master. Cost center hierarchy changes are propagated through the allocation system within five business days under UFMS-001:2.4(b). Misallocations are corrected through the close-cycle reclassification process.
A term of mid twentieth century industrial cost accounting; the construction stabilised in the standardised charts of accounts adopted by major corporations.
Federation members source cost center from the finance master and propagate hierarchy changes through the allocation system within five business days. Reclassifications are processed through the close cycle and reconciled under MEV-Annex:3.2.
