A label applied to a cloud resource for the purpose of cost attribution, distinct from operational or security tags. Allocation tags drive showback, chargeback, and unit-economic computations and are the load-bearing primitives of cost accountability. The federation requires a documented allocation tag policy with required keys for cost center, business unit, product, environment, and owner, applied through an automated enforcement mechanism. Resources missing required allocation tags are quarantined or auto-deleted per UFMS-001:2.4(b). Tag completeness is a quarterly maturity metric.
A specialisation of the general cloud tag concept; the allocation prefix entered FinOps vocabulary as cost-allocation tags became distinct from operational tags.
Federation members publish an allocation tag policy with required keys and enforcement mechanism. Tag completeness is reported monthly under MEV-Annex:3.2. Sustained completeness below ninety-five percent triggers a remediation initiative.
